The Life Balance Class for Alcohol Moderation is a cutting-edge, breakthrough method to help you stop or cut back on excessive drinking. This is not for people who are clinically diagnosed with alcoholism and who require medical treatment. This is for regular people who think they drink too much for their own good and want help stopping or cutting down. This class includes a combination of education, behaviour modification and deep mind reprogramming guaranteed to change one’s outlook and behaviour towards drinking.

It incorporates a number of techniques – each of which has been successfully documented for helping people get a handle on problem drinking and create greater freedom and success in their lives.

  • Life Balance Coaching facilitates self-awareness, connects individuals with their inner values and provides strategies for creating balance and harmony in different aspects of life which may have been suffering as a result of drinking.
  • Hypnosis allows people to make important changes in their beliefs, attitudes and behaviours regarding alcohol and sobriety. It is proven and regarded as the number one most successful method for stopping smoking and losing weight and is now gaining attention as a successful way of overcoming problems with drugs and alcohol.
  • NLP comprises a large body of techniques that generate greater internal resources and increase choices beyond past behaviour with alcohol. It deals with the way information is received and stored in the brain and the meaning attached to it. Changing any one of these elements ( i.e. the meaning or the way it is stored) allows you to almost instantly change your external experience. The techniques NEED to be experienced to be truly appreciated.
  • EFT is effective for neutralizing cravings as well as clearing negative emotions which lead to excessive drinking. Sometimes called ‘Acupuncture without Needles’, it involves gently tapping with the finger-tips on a sequence of Meridian Points while focusing on the negative emotion. 2 minutes of this procedure has consistently produced amazing results.  From the very first class, your desire to drink will be significantly reduced, if not completely eliminated.  Class work is supported by independent exercises between classes.

The program consists of 4 weeks of private or group coaching, once a week for 1 or 2 hours.

Class 1 – Introduction and Overview of the Program

  • Introduction to Hypnosis
  • What to expect, what hypnosis is and is not
  • Group Hypnosis Session with direction suggestions for Alcohol Freedom
  • Review weekly program expectations
    • Setting Goals for the program
    • Overview of different models of ‘recovery’ and their respective success rates as well as their specific benefits and draw backs
    • Some alcohol statistics

Week 1

While the majority of programs focus on the Cognitive/Behavioural causes of problem drinking, this program works on both the conscious behavioural AND subconscious habitual levels. As such, class participants will listen daily to a self-hypnosis recording and complete a series of small exercises intended to create greater insight and improve motivation and commitment.

Recordings average around 20 minutes each and written exercises only take about 15 minutes to complete. Participants are asked to redirect and restructure the time that they would have formally used getting drunk, to working the program in the privacy and convenience of their own homes.

Self-Hypnosis Sessions

  • Direct Suggestion – This very gentle session inspires encouragement, confidence and gets you used to the idea that life without alcohol will be pleasant, manageable and easy
  • The 2 Doors – This session sets up powerful expectations for the rewards of not drinking and connects you to the unpleasant consequences of how you will feel if you drink. This session is composed of a very mild form of aversion combined with creating positive expectations for feeling confident and healthy without alcohol
  • Self-Esteem Booster – It is widely held that problem drinking is as a result of poor self-image and low self-esteem. This session will help you improve the way you feel about yourself.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming

  • Timeline to the Future – This sets up powerful expectations by creating ‘future memories’ making it easy for you go through your week free from alcohol. Mental rehearsal is one of the most powerful things we can do with our minds and by rehearsing our week in advance the tendency is to naturally and effortlessly move in the ‘pre-programmed’ direction.
  • Timeline to the Past – This allows you to remove the power from past memories surrounding drinking and recreate your life as though alcohol was never a part of it. This is not a matter of ‘erasing’ memories but removing the automatic connections that create habitual drinking

Life-Balance Exercises

While the recordings help you to reprogram your subconscious experience around moderating alcohol, the exercises help to keep you focused and on track on a conscious level and will be reviewed and used through-out the program. It is these exercises that help you to design a more fulfilling and balanced life without the need for excessive drinking.

  • Preparing for Change – Assess your readiness!
  • Motivation to Change – What is your motivation for cutting back?
  • Personal Triggers: External Triggers – What social or environmental influences trigger you to drink?
  • Personal Triggers: Internal Triggers – What mental/emotional factors trigger you to drink?
  • Triggers &Alternatives – Knowing what your main triggers are…how will you plan alternatives?
  • Help with Cravings – Using the 5 D’s to get you over those intense moments!
  • Alcohol, Cravings and Blood Sugar – Some important facts about blood sugar and alcohol consumption. Learn some VERY SIMPLE steps you can take to make sure your blood sugar levels stay safe and balanced while moderating your alcohol intake.
  • Where do I spend my time – An assessment of personal time-management noticing where you spend your time. This is part one of a two part exercise. Next week we will look at where you want to spend your time and setting up processes to meet these goals.

Class 2 – Emotional Freedom Techniques

  • The Week in Review
  • Alcohol and your Physical Health
    • Education component providing clear and graphic statistics regarding the impact excessive drinking has on the body
    • Learn how to use EFT to clear emotional issues such as guilt, anger, fear, worry, forgiveness etc. This incredible technique does away with the need for long discussions about one’s feelings and ‘past sins’ practiced in other programs. Using EFT regularly will help you clear out the negative energetic and emotional blockages that have been causing you to drink in the first place bringing deep emotional relief and healing

Week 2

 Self-Hypnosis Sessions

  • The 2 Doors
  • The 6 Step Reframe – This simple process is widely hailed as the single most important step in gaining control over alcohol because it helps you to resolve inner conflicts. Based on Parts Integration Theory it works from the premise that a part of you wants to drink because alcohol is fulfilling a very important need. In a state of light trance, a dialogue is set up that allows you to discover other ways that this need can be fulfilled without alcohol. AN AGREEMENT IS MADE WITH THE PART and from then on in…living a life of Moderation is almost effortless! *This session takes place in the class. A recording is not provided.*
  • Stay Off Alcohol – Set’s up a powerful aversion to the problems and consequences associated with alcohol
  • Dealing with the Inner Critic – People with alcohol problems tend to be incredibly hard on themselves and others. This Session helps you stand up to those nasty inner voices and teaches you to be more loving of yourself and others

  • Personal History – Getting clear on the people and circumstances in your life that have caused you to drink
  • Discovering and Identifying Your Values – Our personal Values are those things in life that matter most to us. Unfortunately – alcohol often prevents us from having or becoming what we truly want and desire in life. This important exercise will help you connect with the things that are most important to you in life and give you a clear sense of direction regarding where you want to be
  • Where I want to spend my time – Active planning of time to make you more efficient, focused and directed

Emotional Freedom Techniques

From here on, EFT will become a central part of the moderation process. Using EFT you will be able to clear any number of negative emotions, guilt or memories that may have been causing you to drink in the first place.

  • Begin the Personal Peace Procedure – A systematic method for clearing the energetic and emotional blockages at every stage of your life
  • Personal Tapping – Using your EFT manual you can ‘Tap’ on specific issues confronting you in your day to day life.

 Class 3 – Beginning to bring it all together

  • The Week in Review

    • Education component providing clear and graphic statistics regarding the impact excessive drinking has on your mind, emotions and relationships; the impact of problem drinking on Society
    • Group Tapping on different issues that have come up through course of the  program

Week 3

  • Endorphin Therapy – Endorphins are the body’s feel-good hormones. Using hypnosis you can produce your own ‘natural high’ safely and easily allowing you to ‘catch a buzz’ without drinking. You’ll want to use this one often!
